Both scheduled matches in the SA20 on Saturday were abandoned without a single ball being bowled due to persistent rain and the ongoing threat of lightning in the surrounding areas.

The daytime fixture between Joburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape initially showed signs of hope, with conditions briefly improving enough for officials to agree on a five-overs-per-side contest and conduct the toss. However, lightning soon returned, forcing the umpires to call off the match.

In the day-night encounter, Durban’s Super Giants were set to take on Pretoria Capitals, but persistent bad weather delayed proceedings. A toss eventually took place and a 16-over-per-side match was approved, only for rain to return once again, leading to the eventual abandonment.

As per tournament regulations, all four teams were awarded two points each. The results leave Joburg Super Kings three points clear of Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the top of the standings, while Durban’s Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals remain fourth and fifth, respectively.
